''Negative reviews'' about the state of democracy in Serbia (Danas)
According to Belgrade based daily Danas, Serbia is expected to have "very negative assessment" of the state of democracy.
Some diplomats told Danas that "very negative reviews" will be found in the segment relating to the "state of democracy," referring to the European Commission's Progress Report on Serbia's progress towards EU membership, to be presented at today's extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee European Parliament in Brussels.
A session dedicated to the "package" of the Western Balkans and Turkey reports should begin at 11 am, and the documents will be presented by EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and enlargement negotiations Johannes Hahn.
As Danas daily unofficially finds out, the Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Ambassador Sem Fabrizi will hand over the report on Serbia to Prime Minister Ana Brnabic at 4 pm.
When it comes to Kosovo, diplomatic circles are speculating that it will be noted that it is necessary to continue negotiations on the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, but Pristina is likely to receive bigger critics this time from Serbia because of refusal to abolish tariffs on goods from Serbia.
The latest tensions in the north of Kosovo will not be included in the Report, because this document was completed a few days ago, but it is possible that the current situation will be discussed by participants in the session in Brussels.
