Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija mark today one of the most important holidays Vidovdan (St. Vidus Day). The central ceremonies were held in Gracanica and Gazimestan, Radio KIM reports.
A liturgy was served in the Serbian Orthodox Church Monastery Gracanica, while the memorial for those who have fought in Kosovo Polje battle (1389) was severed at Gazimestan.
Serbian Orthodox Church Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral Amfilohije told gathered Serbs in Gracanica that they are not a minority but the strongest people in Europe.
“They say you are a minority; the strength is not in numbers, but in the Lord instead. It is not a question how many of us are there, the question is how many honorable and honest people are there (…),” Metropolitan Amfilohije said.
Local officials attended the liturgy, while this year, as Radio KIM said no representatives of the Serbian Government attended the ceremony.
KoSSev portal said more people than last year attended the ceremony at Gazimestan.
