Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija mark today one of the most important holidays Vidovdan (St. Vidus Day). The central ceremonies were held in Gracanica and Gazimestan, Radio KIM reports.

A liturgy was served in the Serbian Orthodox Church Monastery Gracanica, while the memorial for those who have fought in Kosovo Polje battle (1389) was severed at Gazimestan.

Serbian Orthodox Church Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral Amfilohije told gathered Serbs in Gracanica that they are not a minority but the strongest people in Europe.

A group of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC) Bishops have distanced themselves from the SOC statement following the Holy Synod session and a meeting with the President Aleksandar Vucic, Belgrade-based Danas daily writes on Monday.

„We have endured greater evil and troubles – the Ottoman Empire, Nazism, fascism, and communism, we will probably endure scraps of all what has happened to us in the past, particularly in Kosovo and Metohija,“ the Metropolitan of Montenegro Amfilohije said, KoSSev portal reports.

He criticized the idea of the ethnic delimitation proposed by the Serbian President as a solution to the Kosovo issue, which, as Vucic himself said earlier this year, he had always advocated.

Metropolitan Amfilohije Radovic, a Serbian Orthodox bishop, the current head of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro, said on Thursday that who called a referendum on Kosovo status “has no sound mind,” Kossev website reported.

Reactions on the statement of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC) Metropolitan Amfilohije who earlier expressed concern over the way the Serbian Government is trying to untie “the Kosovo knot” do not go silent for a third day in a row, TV N1 reports today.

Serbian Academy of Science and Arts (SANU) is not a party to have a political platform on Kosovo, instead it can only offer opinions of individuals, SANU President, Vladimir Kostic told Serbian media.

“Do not expect from SANU to take a joint stance on Kosovo and Metohija by over voting. This is not in the essence of the Academy. The Academy can offer opinions of individuals, and they differ to the extent present in the society,” Kostic told journalists commenting expectations from SANU in the internal dialogue on Kosovo.

We are attacking no one, neither me nor the Church, we are only expressing concern for the destiny of the most important and the most sacral part of the Serbian state, Metropolitan Amfilohije told IN4S portal, adding he had never held a funeral mass for Aleksandar Vucic, Serbian daily Danas reported.
