Civic Initiative SDP: 19 months without progress in Oliver Ivanovic’s murder investigation (BETA, TV N1)

Civic Initiative Freedom, Democracy, Justice (GI SDP) assessed today that 19 months since the murder of their leader Oliver Ivanovic, investigative bodies in Pristina only create impression they are working on the case, adding “that in Mitrovica North neither street nor a square were named after Oliver Ivanovic,” despite strong promises “of Belgrade authorities”, BETA news agency reported.

SDP underlined it remains unknown who were the instigator and perpetrator of this crime. It recalled that all Pristina did over the last month was to again interrogate Oliver Ivanovic’s secretary Silvana Arsovic “as suspect and culprit”.

“They attempt to accuse her for the cameras that allegedly did not work from 4 to 16 January 2018 and started to work ten minutes after the murder. They refer to the ballistic reports of foreign countries, but did not want to present them neither to her nor to her lawyer during the hearing or after that. We are asking them - What about recordings taken from other surveillance cameras,” SDP said in a statement.

The SDP assessed that such attitude speaks about “functioning of the judiciary system in Kosovo where any Serb may be suspected and convicted without any evidence”. It also pointed out that investigative acts by Pristina were not carried out professionally since the very beginning. “This however does not relieve them of responsibility, and we expect them to find and prosecute the murders”, SDP concluded in a statement.
