USAID supports agriculture with 12 million dollars (Kosova Sot)

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development of Kosovo and USAID in Kosovo have had a continuous cooperation in the agriculture sector that has brought concrete results, the paper reports. Minister Memli Krasniqi met on Tuesday with the director of USAID in Kosovo, James Hope. Krasniqi and Hope discussed the new project AGRO expected to be launched these days and the total value of which is 11.8 million dollars. Hope said the USAID support will continue in the future and appreciated the commitment of the ministry to support the farmers of Kosovo.

People not happy with Jahjaga, Mustafa, Veseli (Koha)

UNDP and USAID will release today the Public Pulse IX, a study which included 1,306 respondents and focused on people’s satisfaction with the work of Kosovo’s institutions. According to results, political representatives like President Atifete Jahjaga, Prime Minister Isa Mustafa and Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli have recorded the lowest level of people’s satisfaction since March 2007. Respondents further identified unemployment, poverty, and corruption as the main problems in Kosovo.

Women not to give up their property right (dailies)

USAID in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, on Monday presented the program for equal property rights. This program aims at strengthening and improving judicial processes concerning the subjects of property rights, and also aims to ensure that women have the capacity to exercise their property rights. USAID mission director in Kosovo, James Hope, said that the right to have ownership and inheritance is a basic human right. "Property rights have a direct impact on the quality of life for citizens of a country. It gives a sense of economic security.

USAID helped development of agriculture in Kosovo (Zeri)

The USAID Project "New Business Opportunities" marked today the conclusion of the program in support of the agricultural sector, Zeri newspaper reports. According to Zeri, this program has generated about 6000 new work places, and there were about 23 million Euro export in the region. In February 2011, USAID started new program ‘Opportunities in Agriculture’, designed to increase agricultural production in Kosovo and to generate jobs in this sector.

Public Pulse: Satisfaction with Government, legislative and justice declines (Kosovapress)

UNDP and USAID will present today findings of the Public Pulse report that provides perceptions of Kosovo citizens on religious radicalism, political stalemate and what they consider main problems in Kosovo are. The document shows a significant decline of citizens’ satisfaction with the work of key institutions. According to a statement from UNDP, the document covers the period from April to November 2014 and follows the tradition of previous reports by analyzing the changing of situation in the political, economic, security fields. The project is co-founded by USAID and UNDP.

Norwegian Ambassador hints at new elections in Kosovo (Zeri)

Jan Braathu, the Norwegian Ambassador to Pristina, said Kosovo could very soon go to new elections and called on authorities to implement necessary measures for a more credible and advanced election system. Braathu made these remarks during a roundtable in Pristina organized by Democracy in Action, a coalition of non-governmental organizations. “A series of concrete measures are required to advance the election system because we might have elections again, in fact much sooner than we expect,” Braathu said.

Jahjaga: Economic empowerment of women, investment for the future (Koha)

“The economic empowerment of women makes our society stronger; it is an investment in the future and a guarantee for our country’s prosperity. The empowerment of women brings changes in society and we must bring down all barriers and enable our women to work for the economic development of our country,” Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga said in today’s conference “Women and Business” in Pristina.
