The Kosovo Women Network (KWN) published the "Sexual Harassment in Kosovo" report today, which states that cases of sexual harassment seem quite frequent in Kosovo. For the first time, this report examines the legal framework related to sexual harassment in Kosovo; perceptions and attitudes towards sexual harassment and institutional response. The report aims to address the lack of data on sexual harassment in Kosovo and to monitor the implementation of numerous legal frameworks of public institutions.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare and UNDP Kosovo signed an agreement of cooperation today on the reintegration of repatriated persons in the labor market.  This agreement foresees cooperation in the implementation of activities in support of repatriated persons, providing training and employment opportunities in the framework of UNDP’s “Active Labor Market in Kosovo” project.

Keys to 52 houses were handed over yesterday to the families of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian (RAE) communities in Gjakova/Djakovica. The donation was part of the project for housing and integration of RAE communities. Representatives of the project partners said that through this project over 800 people of RAE communities had been offered houses. Mayor of Gjakova/Djakovica, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, said this project reflects equality for everyone. “Today with great pleasure we are closing a project, a work that reflects equality.

The Association of Kosovo Journalists (AKJ) condemned the attack yesterday on Gazmend Morina, a journalist of news website veriu.info, who was physically assaulted by a member of the Municipal Assembly of Mitrovica. “The Association of Kosovo Journalists was informed that journalist Gazmend Morina was attacked with iron rods by a member of the Municipal Assembly in Mitrovica. The AKJ calls on relevant authorities to take urgent measures against the attackers.

Kosovo Assembly MP and representative of the Egyptian community in Kosovo, Veton Berisha, issued a press statement yesterday saying he was very concerned about the death of three-month-old baby in Gjakove/Djakovica. Berisha said, “Kosovo society is not in good condition now that we have reached a point where our infants die from cold and hunger.” He also raised the question as to why the Egyptian community is so discriminated and ignored by the government of Kosovo.

Kosovo Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Arban Abrashi, together with British Ambassador to Kosovo Ruairi O'Conell and UNDP Resident Representative, Andrew Russell, signed an agreement yesterday to subsidize salaries for 130 jobs. Abrashi said that it remains a priority for his ministry to create new jobs and train young people to prepare them for the job market. Russell stressed the need to create a better job market in Kosovo and a stable economy.

During his Kosovo visit  yesterday, German Parliamentary State Secretary, Hans-Joachim Fuchtel announced that Germany has allocated 11 million euros to Kosovo for the year 2016. The money will be allocated to developing the sectors of education, youth employment and green economy. Fuchtel said Germany will continue to support Kosovo on its path towards European integration.

The Assembly of Kosovo and GIZ signed a Memorandum of Understanding today to support the European integration process in Kosovo. The signing of the memorandum is part of efforts to continue supporting Kosovo institutions in the European integration process, especially to support the effective implementation of requirements deriving from the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA).

Asylum seekers and their reintegration has been a topic of discussion at a table with Interior Minister Skender Hyseni and mayors of several municipalities. Hyseni said his ministry together with the municipalities will have to continue with awareness campaigns on repatriation benefits.  "The reintegration and repatriation process will continue even after the Europpean Commission recommends  visa liberalization for Kosovo.

The UNDP Kosovo Development Coordinator, Andrew Russell, met yesterday with Kosovo Health Minister, Imet Rrahmani. Russell and Rrahmani discussed the cooperation between the UNDP and the Ministry of Health. Minister Rahmani informed Russell on the priorities of his work related to the implementation of laws on health, restoring trust in the health system, strengthening the capacity and development of health reform with particular focus on the health of mother and child, malignant diseases and vascular diseases.
