No arrest, suspects or information about Pista killing (dailies)

All dailies report on the assassination of Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) candidate for Parliament, Elvis Pista, who was gunned down by unknown assailants on Sunday morning in the town of Rahovec/Orahovac. Over 2,000 people attended the funeral on Sunday. The police have not arrested anyone in relation to the killing, but has offered €10,000 to anyone with information that can help resolve the case. The Basic Prosecution in Gjakove/Djakovica said it has some information about the case, but will not reveal anything until the verification process is completed.

Kuci: Let’s lower the tensions (Bota Sot)

The deputy leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Hajredin Kuci, stated in an interview for Gazeta Blic that the agreement reached between the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), and the Initiative, is merely an example of post-election adrenaline. According to him, the Constitution of Kosovo clearly states that the mandate to create the new government belongs to the party which won the majority of votes. He added that the PDK is ready to respect any decision of the Constitutional Court.

Rasic: I will join the LDK-AAK-NISMA coalition (Bota Sot)

The Acting Minister of Labor and Social Welfare and Head of the Democratic Progress Party, Nenad Rasic, said that he is ready to join the opposition in the formation of a new government. “We are ready to cooperate with the whole political spectrum in Kosovo. We don’t reject anyone. We will cooperate with anyone who aims to improve the lives of the people,” said Rasic.

Special court will take some time to become functional (Bota Sot)

The special court for Kosovo will take some time to become completely functional. The main problem will be the court’s chamber in Netherlands, which according to government officials there, will take at least one year to be established. KTV quotes its sources in the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs as saying that the United States and the European Union asked the Netherlands to assist on the matter. The establishment of the chamber however will need to be adopted by the Dutch parliament and this is expected to take a year.

The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Isa Mustafa said for the Austrian daily, Die Presse, that the entire world knows that Serbia committed genocide against the Albanian population in Kosovo during 1990 to 1999, massacring over 12,000 civilians, and expelling about one million Albanians. He noted that 1,800 still remain missing. The leader of the opposition was suspicious of the new Government of Serbia’s readiness to find a solution in its negotiations with Kosovo. “We were the first opposition party to support this issue.
