Two police officers attacked in Štrpce/Shterpce (Telegrafi)

Two persons of Serbian community were arrested yesterday in Štrpce/Shtërpcë after attacking two police officers, the news site reports. According to the police report, the suspects initially ignored orders and then physically assaulted two police officers, one Serb and one Albanian. The victims have suffered bodily injuries and received medical treatment.

Journalists concerned over legal initiative on reporting on children (Telegrafi)

Kosovo journalists are concerned with a legal initiative undertaken by the Office of the Prime Minister, which aims to control online and print media reporting about children. Mustafa: Government focused on advancing European agenda (Telegrafi)

Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, met today in Pristina with the US expert on the Balkans, Daniel Serwer. Mustafa and Serwer discussed the current developments in Kosovo and the region. Mustafa said Kosovo has achieved progress in economic development, European integration and in strengthening the rule of law. “The government of Kosovo remains focused on advancing the European agenda, visa liberalization and transforming the Kosovo Security Forces into Armed Forces,” Mustafa was quoted as saying.

Government of Kosovo postpones sending border demarcation agreement to Assembly (Telegrafi)

Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, said in today’s meeting of the government that the draft law for ratification of the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro will not be immediately sent to the Assembly for approval in order to give more time for the issue to be discussed with MPs and the public. According to Mustafa, Kosovo is not losing territory through the agreement and the debate will confirm this.

Musmurati: PDK is in favor of ratifying demarcation deal (Telegrafi)

Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) Secretary, Basri Musmurati, has denied reports in some media according to which the PDK is reserved on the border-demarcation deal between Kosovo and Montenegro. Musmurati told the news website that the PDK maintains the same position on the matter. “We have not discussed this issue. But it needs to go forward,” he was quoted as saying.

Hoxhaj: We will leave no stone unturned to boost Kosovo sovereignty (Telegrafi)

Kosovo’s Foreign Minister, Enver Hoxhaj, said in a meeting with the British Ambassador, Ruairí O’Connell that he will make outmost efforts to secure more recognitions for Kosovo to enable it to gain membership in international organisations.  “We will leave no stone unturned to boost sovereignty of Kosovo to exercise it”, Hoxhaj is quoted to have said.   He stressed that Great Britain remains an important supporter of independent Kosovo and will also help in in its path to joining international organisations.

Government to submit demarcation deal to Assembly on Wednesday (RTV Dukagjini)

The Kosovo government seems determined to send the border-demarcation deal with Montenegro to the Assembly. Unnamed sources told RTV Dukagjini that the government will meet on Wednesday at 10:00 to adopt the demarcation deal and then submit it to the Assembly. Kuçi: New EULEX mandate with different competencies (Telegrafi)

Kosovo’s Minister of Justice, Hajredin Kuçi said to the members of the parliamentary commission for European integrations that the mandate of the EU rule of law mission, EULEX, came after lengthy negotiations. Kuçi said that the new EULEX mandate will have a different set of competencies. “The ongoing cases will remain under EULEX while the new cases will be taken on in coordination with the judicial and prosecutorial councils, [and] the state prosecution”, Kuçi said.

 

Thaçi: We have established a good tradition of cooperation with EULEX (media)

The President of Kosovo Hashim Thaçi, met today with the new Acting Head of EULEX Mission in Kosovo, Bernd Thran, with whom he discussed the cooperation between Kosovo institutions and EULEX after the adoption of the new law and the restructuring of the mission.

“We have established a good tradition of cooperation”, Thaçi said, adding that the cooperation shall continue.

The Vetevendosje Movement MP, Donika Kadaj Bujupi, said on Thursday that Serbia is interfering in different forms in Kosovo. According to her, Serbia is continuously increasing its influence within Kosovo. “Serbia is interfering in different forms in Kosovo. It's thanks to this government that we have, the Serbian government is continuously increasing its influence in our country,” Kadaj Bujupi said.
