Interior Minister Hyseni travels to Germany (Koha)

Kosovo’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Skender Hyseni, traveled to Germany on Tuesday, upon the invitation of the German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere. During his visit, Hyseni will meet with de Maiziere and will be received by the German Bundestag for Security and Internal Affairs. Hyseni is also expected to hold a lecture at the Aspen Institute.

Theo Francken: Belgium will not grant asylum to people from Ksoovo (Indeksonline)

The Belgium State Secretary for Asylum and Migration, Theo Francken, is staying in Kosovo on a three-day campaign-visit to prevent irregular immigration. Francken, met with Minister of Internal Affairs, Skender Hyseni, and reiterated that there will be no asylum granted to the people of Kosovo. "We have many refugees from various countries. We have many people from Kosovo and Albania, and other countries of the Balkans, to whom we will not grant asylum. There is no such thing as economic refugee,” said Francken.

Hyseni urges Italy to support Kosovo’s membership in Interpol (Telegrafi)

Kosovo’s Interior Minister, Skender Hyseni, during an official visit to Italy, asked the country’s authorities to support Kosovo’s efforts in becoming a member of Interpol and Europol. Hyseni and his Italian counterpart, Angelino Alfano, discussed global terrorism and violent extremism and agreed to cooperate in fighting these negative phenomena which are not nationally confined. Hyseni also said in the meeting that Kosovo should not remain the only isolated country in the Balkans and that the visa liberalization would be of benefit not only to the people of Kosovo but the EU as well.

Kosovo Minister of Internal Affairs Skender Hyseni said that all those who have irregularly migrated to Europe will be returned to Kosovo while the government is very limited in funds to help those returning. Hyseni said he had many meetings with counterparts from different European countries, all of whom stressed that their respective countries will not be granting asylum status to the people from Kosovo. He said the irregular migration is an adventure whose near end will only result in making people even poorer.

Kosovo’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Skender Hyseni, is staying in Washington at the invitation of Secretary of State John Kerry, to attend the White House Summit on Countering Violent Extremism. During the sessions, Hyseni provided detailed information on Kosovo’s efforts to cope with the problem of violent extremism and terrorism.  Hyseni also had a special meeting with the Secretary General of Interpol, Jurgen Stuck, with whom he discussed the possibility of Kosovo's membership in Interpol.

Kosovo Minister of Internal Affairs Skender Hyseni, on Monday traveled for a several-days official visit to the United States of America. Hyseni will attend the White House Summit on Countering Violent Extremism. The purpose of the Summit, which brings together key stakeholders from around the world, is developing an action agenda to address violent extremism. During his stay in Washington, Hyseni will also have separate series of meetings at the US State Department, the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Hyseni: Police does not accept ultimatums (Koha)

Kosovo’s Interior Minister, Skender Hyseni, has justified Kosovo Police’s (KP) actions on the protest of 27 January, saying that the police does not accept ultimatums from any group of protesters. Hyseni told the Committee on Internal Affairs and Security that KP would not have retracted after the ultimatum, because according to him, in this case it would have been a "failure of the state." "Protests with ultimatums do not exist in any democratic country in the world,” said Hyseni. He said that at no point he would use the police for political reasons.

Hyseni visits Kosovo migrants in Hungray (Gazeta Express)

Kosovo’s Minister of Internal Affairs Skender Hyseni, accompanied by a delegation of his ministry, made a one day visit to Hungary on Monday and met the Hungarian Interior Minister, Sandor Pinter.  Hyseni and Pinter discussed the issue of irregular migration, but also other issues of particular interest as global terrorism and violent extremism. The ministers agreed that the best long-term solution is visa liberalization. Hyseni also visited the open center in Bicske, where hundreds of irregular migrants from Kosovo are staying.

Bozovic, former AKI agent, asks for protection from Kosovo institutions (Koha)

Bojan Bozovic, a former associate of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI), claims he has received death threats from people he calls extremists. Bozovic sent a letter to Koha saying that he has notified Prime Minister Isa Mustafa and Interior Minister Skender Hyseni about the threats, but that he has received no reply. Bozovic said by the end of this year he would publish the names of people responsible for killings in Kosovo. “I will also publish the names of those working against Kosovo, those working in the Kosovo police and army who serve as Serbian spies.

Kuci and Hyseni travel to Belgrade (KosovaPress)

Kosovo Minister of Justice, Hajredin Kuci and Minister of Internal Affairs, Skender Hyseni traveled on Thursday to Belgrade to attend Ministerial Forum EU – Western Balkans organized by the European Commission, Kosova Press reports. Kosova Press writes that the main topics of discussion during the forum will be the judicial cooperation and fundamental human rights, with particular focus on the rights of women and children. This forum will present the priorities of the European Union Presidency.
