Hyseni and Ferguson discuss cooperation between Kosovo Police and KFOR (Telegrafi)

Kosovo’s Interior Minister, Skender Hyseni met on Tuesday with the Commander of NATO Joint Force Naples, Admiral Mark Ferguson. Hyseni and Ferguson discussed the issue of security for the people of Kosovo and the rule of law. Admiral Ferguson expressed his willingness and commitment to support Ministry of Internal Affairs in its development path. Topic of discussion was also the issue of cross-border cooperation with neighboring countries in maintaining peace and security, and Kosovo’s progress in combating organized crime, corruption and violent extremism.

Hyseni and Gnatovskyy discuss prisoners’ treatment in Kosovo (KosovaPress)

Kosovo’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Skender Hyseni, accompanied by the Director of the Kosovo Police, Shpend Maxhuni met on Thursday with President of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT), Mykola Gnatovskyy. At the meeting special attention was paid to the treatment of persons in police custody, prison conditions and prison health care. Hyseni thanked Gnatovskyy for the visit and stressed that the conditions which were provided to persons in these institutions comply with international standards on the protection of human rights.

Hyseni meets OSCE head, Jean-Claude Schlumberger (Koha)

Kosovo Minister of Internal Affairs, Skender Hyseni, met on Tuesday with the head of the OSCE mission in Kosovo, Ambassador Jean-Claude Schlumberger. Hyseni and Schlumberger discussed the current cooperation between the OSCE Mission in Kosovo and the Ministry of Interior. Hyseni assured the Schlumberger that this cooperation will continue in the future and expressed readiness for cooperation in the areas of law enforcement with the OSCE mission.

Hyseni: Membership in international organizations, important for Kosovo (Telegrafi)

Kosovo’s Interior Minister, Skender Hyseni, on Monday met with the director of the Migration, Asylum, Refugees Regional Initiative (MARRI), Trpe Stojanovski. Hyseni noted that Kosovo’s membership in this initiative would contribute to further stabilization of the security situation in the region. Hyseni said that Kosovo's membership in international organizations and regional initiatives is among the top priorities of the Ministry of Interior.

Interior Minister Hyseni met with UNHCR chief Rao (Bota Sot)

Minister of Internal Affairs, Skender Hyseni met on Wednesday with the UNHCR Chief of Mission in Kosovo, Narasimha Rao. Hyseni and Rao discussed the cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and UNHCR, with special emphasis on the process of re-integration of the people of Kosovo, as well as the conditions of asylum seekers in Kosovo. Hyseni thanked UNHCR chief for the support given so far to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and pledged that this cooperation continue in the future.

Interior Minister Hyseni and Peci discuss fight against crime and corruption (Telegrafi)

Kosovo’s Interior Minister, Skender Hyseni, on Monday met with head of the Kosovo Judicial Council, Enver Peci. Hyseni and Peci discussed the cooperation between the two institutions with the aim of providing better services to the people of Kosovo, who face different judicial processes.  This meeting is the continuation of the excellent cooperation between the two institutions, in the field of combating crime and corruption.

Hyseni in France asks support for membership in Interpol (Gazeta Express)

Kosovo’s Interior Minister, Skender Hyseni, on Thursday met with France’s Interior Minister, Bernard Cazeneuve. Hyseni and Cazeneuve discussed the rule of law situation in Kosovo and bilateral cooperation in combating organized crime and terrorism.  Hyseni asked for France's support for Kosovo's membership in international organizations, with particular emphasis on Kosovo's membership in Interpol.

Over 100 persons repatriated from Germany, Austria and Hungary (Koha)

Over 100 persons who migrated to Germany, Austria and Hungary in late 2014 and early this year, were repatriated to Kosovo on Wednesday.  The costs of returns were covered by Austrian state, while Kosovo’s Interior Minister, Skender Hyseni, warned that many more people would be repatriated during this month. Hyseni asked for additional funds by the government of Kosovo, in order to facilitate the repatriation of migrants.

EU commissioner optimistic on visa liberalization for Kosovo (Lajmi)

The European Union Commissioner for Migration, Internal Affairs and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos, said on Tuesday that very soon there will be some good news regarding visa liberalization for Kosovo. “Only with real results in fighting high-level corruption, and prevention of irregular migration, the EU will help the citizens of Kosovo, to travel without visas,” he said.
