Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic on Thursday met Patriarch Irinej of the Serbian Orthodox Church and both expressed understanding for the political and economic situation that Serbia is in.

It must be ensured that Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija have sustainable prospects and a safe future, the chairman of the Serbian parliamentary committee on Kosovo and Metohija, Milovan Drecun, said on Thursday. Speaking to reporters in the Serbian parliament, Drecun said that normalisation of relations with Albanians living in Kosovo and Metohija is important in that process.

Serbian president's media advisor Stanislava Pak stated on Thursday that Serbia will do everything it can to access the EU but she also noted that the country made it clear at the very beginning of the process that it will not fulfil the condition that refers to recognition of the so-called independence of Kosovo.

The issue of Serbia's EU accession and its relation to Kosovo will be addressed thorough a certain formula which will be devised by diplomats, believes Erhard Busek, former vice chancellor of Austria.

Serbia has a number of objections to the EU's draft platform on common negotiating platform for Chapter 35, and the most important ones Tanjug has had insight into are:
1) There is no standard part referring to harmonization of content with common rules and regulations of the EU (acquis communitaire), which is contained in all platforms for other chapters.
2) Progress in the process of normalization of relations with Kosovo (instead Pristina) is mentioned

Serbs living in Kosovo and Metohija have full trust in Serbia's top officials and believe that the decisions reached in the course of the Brussels dialogue will be in their interest, Minister for Communities and Return in the Kosovo government,Dalibor Jevtic, said on Wednesday.

European Commission has forwarded the draft platform to EU member states along with the recommendation for the Chapter to be opened, and it is up to member states to propose eventual amendments and decide on the opening of the chapter, said spokesperson of the EU High Representative Maja Kocijancic, who also speaks in behalf of the EU Commissioner for Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn.

China's official position is that the issue of Kosovo needs to be solved pursuant to UN Security Council Resolution 1244, Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Li Manchang said in Jagodina on Wednesday.

The Resolution precisely states what Kosovo's status is and that Kosovo is an integral part of Serbia and, in that sense, Serbia has our full support, said Ambassador Li, who is visiting Jagodina on Wednesday.

Speaking at a press conference, he reminded that China has not recognised Kosovo.
