Nikolic to appear before UN Security Council for last time (Koha)

Serbian President, Tomsilav Nikolic, is to appear for the last time before the UN Security Council today to take part in the session on Kosovo and discuss the most recent report of the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres since his term in office is set to expire in April. According to sources, Kosovo will this time be represented by ambassador to the U.S., Vlora Citaku.

 

Nikolic decides to run for reelection (B92/Tanjug)

President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic will be a candidate in the presidential elections, Sputnik and N1 are reporting. B92 has also unofficially received confirmation of this news from Nikolic's cabinet. According to media reports, the president made the decision on Wednesday evening, as he celebrated his 65th birthday. Earlier, Tanjug was told by sources from his cabinet that they could "neither confirm nor deny" that the president would launch a reelection bid.

Serbian President has not received letter for exchange of territories (Koha)

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic has not received the letter of U.S. congressman Dana Rohrabacher suggesting that Serbia and Kosovo should exchange territories, whereby Serbia would get the northern part of Kosovo whereas the latter would get Presevo Valley. Officials at Nikolic’s office told Novosti Online that they heard about the letter only from the media and that they don’t know if it really exists.

Serbia expects change of Portugal’s stance on Kosovo’s bid for UNESCO (Koha)

During a visit to Lisbon, President of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolic, said he hoped Portugal would change its position regarding Kosovo’s membership bid for UNESCO. “I spoke about this to the Portuguese culture minister and we can expect a change in their position because we see no reason for the Serb cultural heritage to move under Kosovo’s administration and protection,” Nikolic said.

Janjić: Belgrade and Pristina to declare whether the dialogue will be continued (Blic)

Political analyst Dušan Janjić believes that during the dialogue, scheduled at the highest level in Brussels for tomorrow, both sides should clarify their attitudes about whether the dialogue will continue to be challenged or will be continued.

Janjić told Beta that there is no information on an agenda for the meeting, suggesting that the next round will be different from all previous.

Hoti to Nikolic: Association/Community will never become substantial autonomy (Klan Kosova)

Kosovo’s Deputy Minister for Culture, Youth, and Sports, Rexhep Hoti, reacted to a statement made by Serbian President, Tomislav Nikolic, in an interview for a Belgrade paper where he said that the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities foresees substantial autonomy for the Serb community. In a Facebook post, Hoti said the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities can “never” become substantial autonomy and that such a statement will only harm the Serb community in Kosovo and normalization of relations process.

President Nikolic to back government in rejecting Pristina's demands (B92, Vecernje Novosti)

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic says he will support the government unconditionally "if rejects as absurd" Pristina's conditions for continued dialogue.

In a statement for Friday's edition of the Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti, Nikolic noted that the interim institutions in Pristina "wrongly appraised that the time is right to set conditions without which no further steps can be made in the (Kosovo) negotiations."
