Municipality of Shterpce/Strpce will not provide assistance to Serb displaced persons who came from other communities after the conflict and who have sold their property, said Mayor Bratislav Nikolic who added that he categorically opposes giving assistance to those who bought property in Serbia.

Nikolic made the comments after a request from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to allocate a parcel of land to a Serb person displaced from Croatia in 1995. After clarifications, certain municipal councilors called for a verification process to establish whether this family still owned property in Croatia before deciding to assist it in providing housing.
