“The way in which the EULEX is functioning and the way in which it behaves towards the Serbs is totally incomprehensible and unacceptable. It is far away from the law and justice and looks more like a market,” said Dragan Jablanović, Mayor of Leposavic and member of the management team for the implementation of the Brussels Agreement. He stresses that EULEX is currently untouchable and when it comes to the Serbs in the north, can do whatever, and arrest whomever it wants.

“No one knows according to which law EULEX operates. Sometimes they refer to the Kosovo law, sometimes to the French, English or German law (depending on where the judge comes from). In addition they always have an excuse – an agreement of four points, signed at the time of Boris Tadic, whose content is not known. According to their “rules”, they can arrest at any time, whomever they want and only after that they search for witnesses and evidence. Witnesses have become a profession in the north, and generally in Kosovo, since all sorts of evidence can be obtained for the money.”

“They have the lists with the names of Serbs whom they plan to arrest. All of us can be the target and people are afraid, because one never knows what will cross their mind. Sometimes they arrest Serbs just to have a parallel, because they arrested some Albanians,” explains Jablanović.

He recalls that the Serbs want that the same laws are applied for both, the Serbs and Albanians. “We cannot any more tolerate double standards,” added Jablanović.

“It seems like EULEX doesn’t care for the implementation of Brussels agreement and forming of the Community of Serbian municipalities that would help establishing the rule of law in all parts of Kosovo, including the north. We don’t know who is behind this behaviour,” emphasizes Jablanović.

EULEX leaders and the Serbian government were informed about these happenings. The talks with EULEX will be continued today, and things should clear up until August 29. The final decision on the future of (non) cooperation with EULEX will be taken by the councillors of all four municipal assemblies. Northern Kosovo Serbs believe that Belgrade understands them and that it will not force them to relent, and in such a way allow the implementation of the EULEX lawlessness.
