Mikullovci calls Assembly’s session, PAN calls it arbitrary decision

(All monitored broadcasters, KTV)

On Thursday, MPs will return to the plenary session at the invitation of the chairman, Adem Mikullovci, but it is still unknown if PAN members will be there with the name of their candidate for Speaker.

PAN Coalition called the decision of chairman for this session arbitrary, while they said that they shall take a decision regarding continuation of the constitutional session after the consultative meeting.

Through a press release, this Coalition accused Adem Mikullovci, an MP of Vetëvendosje, of fully putting himself to the service only to a political entity.

Valdete Bajrami of Nisma për Kosovën said that the chairman Adem Mikullovci is forgetting he has only a formal role there.

However Albert Krasniqi, an analyst, says the chairman has the right to call the session whenever he deems it necessary because he has more powers than the Assembly Speaker. Krasniqi also criticized the role of President, saying he has worked only in favour of PAN.

Two sessions for election of the Assembly Speaker failed last week due to non-presence of PAN Coalition in the Assembly chamber. Meanwhile, the meeting of political representatives on Friday did not produce any result. Another meeting is expected to take place Wednesday, while Vetëvendosje Movement will boycott it.

Srpska List takes part in 10 August session, votes any PAN candidate

(KTV)

Srpska List MPs have confirmed to Radio Free Europe that they will participate in the constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly which has been called for 10 August.

Igor Simic, MP and spokesperson of Srpska List, said “we insist that this process should be completed as soon as possible.”

Simic added that they will act based on the Constitutional Court’s judgement and vote for Kadri Veseli or any other candidate from PAN Coalition that will be proposed for the Assembly Speaker.

“I personally think that it is question a political game through which establishment of institutions is being prevented,” Simic said.

Srpska List refutes: We are not with Haradinaj

(RTK2)

In Srpska List say that they did not support the so-called ‘war coalition’ and emphasize that they have not yet decided whether they will take part in the Kosovo Assembly’s work.

“Srpska List wants to be a constructive political entity. At the same time, I reiterate that we do not want to be an obstacle to the establishment of institutions in Prishtinë/Pristina, but whether we will take part in continuation of the constitutive session or not this will exclusively depend on whether the conditions for formation of Assembly presidency will be created,” Srpska List’s spokesperson Igor Simic underlined.

Hoti: Veseli has not withdrawn from Assembly Speaker’s post

(KTV)

According to the PDK deputy chairperson, Rexhep Hoti, PAN Coalition will positively respond to the invitation of Assembly constitutive session’s chairman, Adem Mikullovci, KTV portal reported.

Furthermore, based on what Hoti said in an interview with TV21, Kadri Veseli has not withdrawn from the Assembly Speaker’s post.

Hoti said that PAN has already secured the votes which will make Veseli the Assembly Speaker and Ramush Haradinaj the Prime Minister. Hoti is certain that on Thursday Kadri Veseli will be elected as the Assembly Speaker, while Ramush Haradinaj the Prime Minister.

“On Thursday we expect election of the Assembly Speaker and he is Kadri Veseli. The numbers are there and on Thursday Veseli will be elected as the Assembly Speaker,” he said.

PDK deputy chairperson Rexhep Hoti says that PDK chairperson, Kadri Veseli, made an offer for voting of institutions by withdrawing from his candidacy for Assembly Speaker, on condition that LAA and VV vote the other PAN candidate and Haradinaj for Prime Minister.

Hoti said that VV and LAA have time until Wednesday to respond to this offer.

TV21 also reported that Vetëvendosje and the LAA Coalition will not attend the consultative meeting scheduled for Wednesday ahead of the Thursday’s constitutive session.

Candidate of LAA Coalition for Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti said they will attend Thursday’s constitutive session, but they will not vote the PDK chairperson Kadri Veseli for Assembly Speaker. He also said that PAN is to be blamed for delays in establishing institutions.

Vujicic calls on MPs to form institutions

(RTK2, RTK1)

Head of the Union of Montenegrins in Kosovo, Slobodan Vujicic, called on MPs and Albanian political party leaders to form the institutions at the earliest time possible and not deepen the political crisis for personal interests.

Through a press statement issued, Vujicic warned that in case the institutions will not be established then Kosovo will fall into an abyss, a situation, which, according to him, will increase appetites of Islamic fundamentalists and other radical groups.

Parties with intensive preparations for local elections

(RTK1)

Political parties are intensively preparing for the October 22nd local elections. Representatives of political entities said they are ready for the electoral race to gain citizens’ trust to lead in municipalities.

Some of political parties say they have already appointed candidates for municipal mayors, while representatives of almost all political entities are continuing with intensive activities in the field.

The third week of August marks the end of the timeframe that political parties have to pay the fines imposed to them during the campaign for early general elections. Non-payment of these fines puts certification of political parties for the local elections at risk.

Total amount of fines amounts to 348,900 euros, while the Elections Complaints and Appeals Panel (ECAP) officials announce that only 11,000 euros have been paid so far by the PAN coalition. On the other hand, the Central Elections Commission (CEC) says it is ready for preparations of October 22nd local elections.

Valmir Elezi is the CEC spokesperson. He announced that the deadline for submission of applications for party and candidate certification for local elections is 00:00hrs of August 22nd. Until then, all fines should be paid, otherwise certification of those political entities or candidates may be put at risk.
