(Most monitored broadcasters, KTV)

The Democratic Party of Kosovo went on with its accusations against Prishtinë/Pristina’s government and Mayor Shpend Ahmeti.

According to officials of this political entity, since Shpend Ahmeti came to the head of Prishtinë/Pristina, schools in the capital have been filled with Vetëvendosje militants.

Member of PDK chairmanship in Prishtinë/Pristina, Dhurata Hoxha, among other things, said that Ahmeti is more governed by Albin Kurti and Dardan Molliqaj than he governs with the Municipality of Prishtinë/Pristina.

According to her, Vetëvendosje, besides politicizing education in Prishtinë/Pristina, it also put the students at risk by taking them out of the lessons to violent protests.

PDK’s accusations toward Vetëvendosje have added up in recent days. Vetëvendosje has repeatedly qualified accusations of PDK officials as slander and it has announced a lawsuit for this.

Local elections have been set for 22 October but the political parties have already started their discussions for assigning the candidates for mayor and municipal councillors.

PDK is expected to make the names of people aiming mayor’s post in Kosovo municipalities within two weeks the latest.

Zafir Berisha of Nisma për Kosovën said this party will have 90 percent of the candidate names completed around 16 and 17 August.

On the other hand, LDK officials still have not shown the extent of their preparations for local elections.

Through an internal election process held on Sunday, Vetëvendosje Movement once again gave its support to current mayor Prishtinë/Pristina Shpend Ahmeti to rerun for this post.

Krasniqi: Speaker’s election as soon as possible

(Klan Kosova)

Jakup Krasniqi, who led the legislative for a while, said that election of the Assembly Speaker should be done as soon as possible.

President of Nisma për Kosovën National Council, Krasniqi, added that everyone has contributed to blockade although they have declaratively stated the opposite.

According to him, without the election of Assembly Speaker other procedures cannot move on, such as the Government formation, whose formation initially belongs to done by PAN Coalition.

Lekaj: It is not true that PAN is blocking establishment of institutions

(Klan Kosova)

In one of his posts in Facebook network, the AAK MP Pal Lekaj wrote that LDK-AKR-Alternative (LAA) Coalition and Vetëvendosje are willing time to buy time for local elections by blocking election of the Assembly Speaker.

According to Lekaj, their statements that PAN is blocking establishment of institutions are not true. He added that their true aim is to block establishment of the Government.

Agreement between parties needed for establishment of new institutions

(RTK2)

Analysts of political developments in Kosovo consider that an agreement between political parties would need to be achieved ahead of the next Kosovo Assembly session in order to identify a solution and not to block establishment of new institutions.

Petrit Zogaj, analyst and Director of FOL organisation, told Radio Free Europe that PAN Coalition, respectively, according to him, PDK is the one that blocks processes and it leads Kosovo to a political crisis which will impact on political development and quality of life, same as on Kosovo’s foreign policy.

On the other hand, political analyst Shkëlzen Maliqi considers that all parliamentary political parties are blocking the process.

He told RFE that dialogue of political parties is necessary for establishment of new institutions. He also added that President Hashim Thaçi should invite political parties to discussion.

Unclear if Thaçi will invite parties to a consultative meeting

(RTK2)

It still is not known whether Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi will invite political party leaders to a meeting in order to unblock the Assembly’s work.

The Office of the President said that next week it will be known if the consultative meeting with the political parties will be held.

“No meeting was planned at this time. Kosovo President is not involved in solution of this problem”, President’s advisor Ardian Arifaj told GazetaExpress.

Tahiri: If parties cannot secure votes for new institutions, new elections

(TV21)

Non-constitution of the sixth legislation of Kosovo Assembly and clashes between the officials of winning coalition of 11 June elections, PAN, and those of Vetëvendoje who are also aiming to form the new authorities are not good signals for the country, the political expert Ramush Tahiri stated in an interview with TV21.

He said that if none of the political sides can secure the majority required for constitution of new institutions, the Assembly should self-dissolve and Kosovo should enter new elections.
