Cedomir Jovanovic, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party in Serbia, said in Pristina today that Belgrade wants to take the northern part of Kosovo in exchange for recognizing Kosovo’s independence. In his address at a roundtable on the future of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, Jovanovic said: “I support dialogue. I see the rhetoric has changed. It is no longer a problem for the President to say he has met Thaci, I don’t believe in relations based on two people. This is a threat for Kosovo”. He criticized Belgrade authorities for banning the Kosovo karate team from entering Serbia and competing at the European karate championship. Jovanovic also said Kosovo and Serbia must continue to discuss and address their problems. “It is a pleasure to be here in Pristina with you. I have had the opportunity to talk with politicians and young people that came to Belgrade but not here in Pristina. I am not pleased that there is no room for talks because we have in a way lost all room for maneuvers. I have often said in Serbia that we need to talk with Kosovo and address our problems,” he added.
