“Despite the spectacular expectations, the Berlin meeting gave normal results for such a content. It sent messages that Europe needs a Western Balkans which does not generate conflicts and crisis but peace. It did not offer patterns and it did not exclude them. Both German Chancellor Merkel and French President Macron, reiterated their well-known positions on Kosovo-Serbia agreement.
It was not expectable that the Presidents and Prime Ministers of the other Western Balkans countries would decide on Kosovo -Serbia matters at such a meeting. Such issues are decided in the meetings between these two countries with the mediation of the EU (After EP elections are completed) and with a strong role of the U.S.
President Thaci’s statements that he would resolve there the issue of visa liberalization, and that of the Presevo Valley and those of the Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj on the tariffs and borders, were for internal consumption, and they vanished before their return to Kosovo. They vanished just like the unity of the Albanian delegation which were gathered by Behgjet Pacolli’s plane to Berlin, but in Berlin, someone was talking to Merkel and Macron while some other was taping shoulders of the Serbian President. It is an illusion to expect a sustainable agreement with Serbia if a unified voice of Kosovo institutions, the opposition and government on the matter is not created in advance. For such solution, elections should take place as soon as possible,” Mustafa wrote.
