Maria Suokkio from Finland is nominated Permanent Representative of UNDP in Kosovo and started work today. She has replaced Alessandra Roccasalvo, who carried this duty since 1 January 2019.

Prior to her new appointment, Suokko was senior adviser to Finland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs in Helsinki, since September 2017.

She also served as head for cooperation at Finland’s Foreign Ministry from 2014-2017 and senior adviser at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Finland (2012-2014).

Her experience with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) includes the post of Program Specialist at the Regional Asia and Pacific Bureau (2006-2010), Permanent Representative Assistant to UNDP China (2001-2005), Environmental Program Manager UNDP in Cambodia (2000-2001) and UNDP Thailand Program Officer (1998-2000).
