In northern Mitrovica, Zvecan, Zubin Potok and Leposavic, sessions were held yesterday where the elected mayors of these municipalities officially started their mandate after winning the 19 May elections.
Oaths were laid by mayors Goran Rakic, Vucina Jankovic, Srdjan Vulovic and Zoran Todic.
At ceremonial meeting, the mayor of North Mitrovica, Goran Rakic, solemnly stated that he would “respectfully, faithfully, impartially, conscientiously and according to the Law fulfill his duty and use his authority as mayor of the Municipality of Mitrovica North, in order to provide conditions for peaceful life to all citizens”.
He thanked the citizens of North Mitrovica for their confidence, saying that he will perform his duty with honour in accordance with the interests of citizens.
-It is also a great obligation, and not only mine, but of all of you in the assembly, to be even better in our work, and to improve the lives of our fellow citizens, to live in peace, and we must help them in every other way, he said.
Beside 14 councilors, session was also attended by the Minister of Local Government Administration Adrijana Hodzic, representatives of the European Union, KFOR, the media.
