Kosovo MP Ilir Deda said that he hoped extraordinary elections will be announced in the coming week and will take place sometime between 8 and 15 September.

In an interview with KTV, Deda spoke in favour of current opposition parties running under one ticket in the upcoming elections. He said the unification of the opposition parties would be because of the “emergency” situation in Kosovo and that the leading role in this would have to be played by the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK).

“LDK can achieve opposition unification as the largest party in the country easier than when it organised the people in the 90s. If LDK joins the whole opposition under one election umbrella, there would be no PDK-led government. If, however, parties run on their own in elections, there will be no change,” he said.
