Serbs in northern Kosovo do not accept separation from Serbia and do not expect the talks between Belgrade and Pristina to result in an acceptable solution, said the president of the Serbian National Council of Northern Kosovo, Milan Ivanović. He added that he did not expect anything from the dialogue because the topic was abolishing Serbian institutions in the north.

“No institution, no power in the independent Kosovo is not an option and the northern Serbs will not accept it. We clearly said that we do not accept the separation from the mother country, because we are aware that the admission into the Kosovo institutions would mean ethnic cleansing,” said Ivanovic and points out that the negotiations Dacic – Thaci are ongoing under pressure from the international community, and says that the north of the province does not accept the community of Serbian municipalities within Kosovo, which Dacic offers, or the position of Pristina that the constitution and the law of the quasi state are applied in the north.”

When asked how the Serbs would respond to the possible imposition of the Pristina solution, Ivanovic replies that they will use all democratic means in Europe not to accept any other country than Serbia. “I am afraid that the survival of Serbs in some kind of independent Kosovo would be possible only if the Serbs assimilate or accept a different faith,” said Ivanovic, adding that this is confirmed by the fact that three-thirds of Serbs or about 250,000 Serbs were expelled from Kosovo and all this happened in the presence of the international community.

“What awaits us in some sort of an independent Kosovo, headed by war criminals like Hashim Thaci and Ramush Haradinaj?” Ivanovic asks.
