Nenad Rasic, head of the coalition of Kosovo Serb political parties “Sloboda” [Freedom] and candidate for Prime Minister, said in an interview to the news agency that his candidacy will be a test for democracy in Kosovo and himself as a politician. Rasic complained about what he called “abnormal conditions” of the election campaign, criticising the Serbian List of firing people that are not loyal to them. Commenting on the import tariff on Serbian goods, Rasic said it was a hasty move and that it brought all talks to a dead end. “The tariff must be revoked, and dialogue must resume. Dialogue however should be initiated by the Kosovo Serbs. Kosovo Serbs must be part of the dialogue and its final objective should be reconciliation. This is the most important thing. The dialogue in its current format is not important if its objective is not reconciliation”. According to Rasic, any process of talks should include the religious communities too in order for dialogue and reconciliation to be genuine. He further argued that “only a dialogue that includes Kosovo Serbs can be relevant and useful”. “All the other dialogues, definitely the ones we have had so far – let me remind you the Brussels dialogue has been going on for six and a half years – have brought no results. We have no gains, because the Kosovo Serbs were not involved in the process and did not initiate ideas, proposals, action plans, which is very important on the ground”.
