Serbia’s Foreign and Internal Affairs Ministers briefed Interpol member state ambassadors in Belgrade about Kosovo’s repeated request for membership in the international police organization on Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement. Ministers Ivica Dacic and Nebojsa Stefanovic expressed the conviction that the countries that voted against membership for Kosovo at last year’s Interpol General Assembly would do the same at this year’s session in Chile later this month, it added. They ministers told the ambassadors that this issue is of great importance to Serbia and is “a challenge for all the countries that base their policies on respect for international law and the basic principles of international relations”. They told the ambassadors that Stefanovic would head Serbia’s delegation to the Interpol General Assembly on October 15-18.
