LUXEMBOURG – EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton stated on Monday evening that she has offered assistance to Ivica Dacic and Hasim Taci in the implementation of the Brussels agreement, and in the continuation of the Belgrade-Pristina talks, stressing that right now the implementation is crucial.

I have offered to participate not only in the implementation, but also in the continuation of the dialogue, Ashton said at a press conference after a meeting of the EU foreign ministers, who said for the media that the Belgrade-Pristina agreement is historical.

The high representative said that at the moment the implementation of the agreement is crucial.
I am available and I would be honored to help, Ashton underlined.

She supported the European Commission, which on Monday recommended the start of the EU accession talks with Serbia.
The EC said in the report that Serbia has met the criteria from December 2012, and that the European Council can now launch the necessary procedures so that the decision on the start of the talks with Serbia could be made in June, the high representative said.

Ashton said that she is satisfied that on Monday the Serbian government unanimously adopted the agreement, which was initialed in Brussels on Friday, and that this was also done in Pristina.

The implementation is crucial now. The things, which have been discussed, are already being implemented, and I hope that the determination, which we have seen so far, will exist in the implementation of each of these elements. I will support them in such efforts, Ashton said.
