Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic said he is neither for nor against a referendum on the Brussels agreement with Pristina, adding that if it did not work, the current government would fall, and if it did work representatives of Serbs from northern Kosovo would have to accept its implementation or withdraw from power. The prime minister said that the agreement is not ideal, but that its acceptance should be integrated.
“It is necessary to first consider the issue of readiness of all factors who want a referendum, but we should also determine whether everyone will be ready to respect the results of the referendum,” Dacic told Pink TV, adding that otherwise the referendum does not make sense.

If the people voted against the agreement, the government would fall, Dacic said.

“If the people say that Serbia should not follow this path, then we should not remain in these positions, but if the citizens think differently, will the Serbs (from northern Kosovo) recognize the results of the referendum?” asked the prime minister.

Dacic pointed out that he and First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic will confer with Serbs from northern Kosovo most probably on Tuesday, but that at this point he does not know whether and when they will come.

He also said that the last meeting with the Serbs from northern Kosovo discussed possible referendum questions.

According to him, the referendum question should be clear and concrete – do you accept the Brussels agreement or not?
“We do not want the questions to have any traps. I believe it would be better to avoid referendum, because it will be a place of divisions,” Dacic concluded.
