The Kosovo Government wants June 15 to be the final deadline when the EU rule-of-law mission (EULEX) will transfer its executive competencies to local institutions and its mandate to include monitoring, mentoring and advising.
Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Hajredin Kuci confirmed the date to RTK. He said there are ongoing negotiations for EULEX to have a completely different role after June 15 and that the final agreement will be between the European Union and the Kosovo Government. “Same as the earlier supervision of independence, the EULEX mission will end in full compliance with Kosovo institutions and international stakeholders … One of the tasks of the EU mission, after restructuring, will be to supervise the agreements reached between Pristina and Belgrade,” Kuci said.
