Private security of the company “Kalabria” blocked internally displaced Serbs in Šilovo, because premise “Hladanjača” has been sold and the new owner gave a deadline to the residents of facility to move out.

According to the statement of Independent Liberal Party (SLS), a minor incident was reported when a private security of “Kalabrija” banned the entry to the residents of ”Hladnjaca”. The displaced, which are residents of the facility, have repeatedly tried to solve this problem, but without any success. They also addressed the Minister for Communities and Returns, Dalibor Jevtic.

He agreed with the owner of the company which bought facility “Hladnjaca” to postpone eviction till 12 January, so that four internally displaced families could have time to find private accommodation, as a temporary solution, till construction of houses, financed by the Ministry of Communities and Returns.

” Unfortunately, on the second day of Christmas the people were in a situation of being expelled in the middle of winter, on the street. This is unacceptable and I have repeatedly responded and called for finding a solution. I’m not in charge of the privatization process and do not want to go into that part of the story. I came here to solve the problem of internally displaced persons. It was agreed to find private accommodation which will be paid by Gnjilane municipality, until the construction of houses, which will be funded by the Ministry of Communities and Returns,” said Jevtic.

Five months ago, at the tender of Kosovo Privatization Agency, company “Kalabria” bought “Hladnjaca” in Šilovo. Since 2004, in that facility lived nine families, which were expelled from Gnjilane.
