OSCE mission has published today third report on reintegration of repatriated persons to Kosovo.

The report notes that central and local institutions in Kosovo have made substantial process from 2011 by improving coordination and their policies and by increasing assistance for repatriated persons. Nevertheless, the lack of reliable data about forcibly returned persons, their access to services and assistance they need, make difficult identification of priorities, drafting of reintegration projects, and assessing their implementation.

“I commend the commitment of Kosovo institutions towards repatriation and reintegration processes, which is noted from the continuous allocation of considerable human and financial resources”, said deputy head of OSCE Mission to Kosovo, Paivi Nikander.

“I call on all parties involved, especially the municipalities, to look for repatriated persons, gather necessary information and make a database that would help in increasing efficiency of projects for reintegration. Reintegration means human rights, right for shelter and housing, civil registration, education and healthcare, and no one should be denied these rights for the lack of information.”

The report is based on regular monitoring activity of OSCE mission in Kosovo and is a continuation of previous reports from 2009 and 2011. The report provides analyses and recommendations for institutions of the local and central level on how to resolve identified challenges.
