The office of Deputy Prime Minister and at the same time the head of the implementation of the agreement for normalization, Edita Tahiri, announced that inauguration sessions of municipalities in northern part of Kosovo have been postponed for this evening after the clear position that has been held from European Union, that those inaugurations should be done in full accordance with the laws of Republic of Kosovo.

“On this occasion, the Government of Republic of Kosovo once more confirms the stance that inaugurations and functionalization of new municipalities should be done in full accordance with the constitution and the laws of Republic of Kosovo. Even if someone from the elected mayors or members of elected municipal assemblies’ acts in contradiction with constitution and laws of Kosovo, then Kosovo Government will take specific legal actions to declare them illegal,” says in the announcement.

Today are continuing talks in Brussels about the inauguration of Serb municipalities in the north of Kosovo, while parties on Thursday did not find an agreement about this problem.

Kosovar side and European Union insist to be respected the laws of Kosovo, but Serb side requests it to be neutral. Authorities in Pristina said that if inaugurations are not done in conformity with Kosovo laws they will be declared illegal, while the inauguration session in Leposavic announced for 08:00 hours has been postponed for the afternoon. It is not clear yet how it will be preceded with other municipalities Zubin Potok, Zvecan and North Mitrovica.
