Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic said today that no one wants new elections in K&M, stating that the solution for the constitution of the Community of Serbian municipalities is sought. That is also the topic of today’s talks of working groups in Brussels.

“A compromise solution that will be status neutral is sought, and relates to the coat of arms. Pristina insisted that there is no compromise, as in the case of oath,” said Dacic after a meeting with European Parliament Rapporteur for Serbia, Jelko Kacin.

He stressed that there is still time to reach a final solution to this problem. The Prime Minister also pointed out that “these are things that appear as small and of low- interest, and that, as such, could adversely affect the continuation of negotiations.”

When it comes to continuing the dialogue with Pristina, Dacic said he was not certain that the meeting would be scheduled before the Intergovernmental Conference with the EU, which will be held on 21 January.

As a possible date was mentioned 17 January, but the prime minister has previously said that this had not been agreed.
