Representatives of the four northern municipalities are making final efforts not to take the oath in compliance with Kosovo laws and thus they risk being declared illegitimate structures by the Government of Kosovo. Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri said an agreement was reached with EU representatives for the oath to be taken in line with Kosovo laws. “We reached a bilateral agreement for the inauguration of new municipal authorities in the north to be done in accordance with Kosovo laws as outlined in the Brussels Agreement. Meanwhile, the European Union is talking to representatives of these four municipalities. They have not yet managed to convince these representatives that their inauguration needs to be done according to Kosovo laws,” Tahiri said.
