Mustafa: LDK against any decision that changes Kosovo Constitution (Klan Kosova, RTK1)

The meeting held between leaders of the biggest political parties of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, Isa Mustafa, and Ramush Haradinaj following invitation by the German Ambassador to Kosovo Peter Blomeyer, where it was discussed about election reform and reserved seats for minorities did not result with any particular decision. This was stated by the LDK leader Isa Mustafa in an interview with RTK1.

Mustafa once again reiterated that LDK is against any decision that opens and changes the Constitution of Kosovo.

“We jointly agreed that June this year would be the time that we would prefer to have elections, because we considered that this is a very good period for elections. We also considered that June, namely the first part of the year, should be the time that we always hold future elections,” Mustafa said.

Talking about reserved seats and stance of the international community about it, Mustafa said that the latter are engaged to extend reserved seats for these communities. However, according to him, the internationals are insisting on this. He believes that the Kosovo Assembly MPs should take a decision about this matter.

“Kosovo Democratic League (LDK) will not vote in favour of changing the Constitution and in favour of reserved seats, because we consider that Ahtisaari Package and its elements related to reserved seats that were integrated in the Constitution have ended with two mandates and there is no reason to continue further with them, because this would imply an Ahtisaari Plus which would open other processes whose epilogue would not be known,” Isa Mustafa stated.

As a sign of expressing its disappointment AAK left the commission created for the election reform, because, according to them, the expected results did not come out of it. This was stated by AAK deputy president Ahmet Isufi, who added that decisions at the high political level were not taken appropriately.
