Advisor to the President of Serbia, Marko Djuric said that the refusal of Krstimir Pantic to assume the position of North Mitrovica mayor did not help Serbia’s efforts, but that will not affect the formation of the Community of Serbian municipalities (ZSO). “Serbia will not give up from it, because the realization of national interests is above every personal political act,” said Djuric, announcing the first concrete steps toward the establishment of the ZSO.

He pointed out that “the goals of the Serbian state policy in Kosovo have not changed” and that it must be taken in consideration that there will be obstacles that will appear on the path towards creating ZSO, as well that the state’s duty is to persevere, beside obstacles such as Pantic’s decision.

Djuric said that the killing of member of Mitrovica Municipal Assembly, Dimitrije Janićijević is contributing to the destabilization of situation in Kosovo, and that Serbia provides full support to the investigation, in order to find the perpetrator of this horrible crime.

When asked about calling early parliamentary elections and whether it will affect the pace of implementation of the Brussels agreement, Djuric was “absolutely convinced that since it is a key national issue, domestic politics will not affect it.”

Djuric said that at the new meeting between Ivica Dacic and Hashim Thaci, on 27 January will be discussed the judiciary but also the formation of the Community of Serbian municipalities (ZSO). “We would like to talk with Pristina representatives about further steps in the dialogue, because our ambitions are not only met by holding the local elections. Our people must fully take part in all political processes in the province, and be proportionally represented in provincial institutions,” said Duric.
