“The evil has spread its roots deep in our country”, declares the paper in the opening of its front-page editorial. While the consequences of this situation are increasingly being felt, negligence of Kosovo institutions to address the problems is shameful.
Yesterday, a tragic event unfolded in Mitrovica where a high school student was stabbed to death by a classmate and the list of serious crimes occurring in the school premises is becoming longer by the day. At the same time, reaction of the government has been very weak. Security in public schools remains poor and this is becoming increasingly intolerable, remarks the paper.
Furthermore, yesterday’s images from the University of Pristina campus, including force used by the Police to disperse the protesters, are not even leaving a mark on the UP’s leading bodies. As usual, a commission is established to investigate the situation but in reality it achieves nothing, if only to “put a lid on the whole story”.
