Activist for the human rights in Belgrade, Natasa Kandic, considers that EULEX has made a mistake by allowing Sami Lushtaku to pledge for municipal mayor while in detention as a suspect on war crimes. According to her, EULEx now is obliged to allow Oliver Ivanovic the same thing. Expressing suspicions that Ivanovic’s detention in the verge of the elections for Mitrovica mayor, could have political background, Kandic says that Ivanovic nevertheless, has the right to request from EULEX to candidate from prison, and if he is elected a mayor pledge, in the same manner as Sami Lushtaku, when he was candidate for Skënderaj mayor.
