Vladimir Putin still didn’t deserve a monument in Pristina, even though he recognized the right ofself-determination to Kosovo, due to Crimea crisis. If one could judge based on the lack of reactions on the side of Kosovo officials, he is far away from the honor which was given to than American president Bill Clinton, right after the declaration of independence.
Analyst from Pristina Behlul Beçaj said to Belgrade-based paper Alo that he is expecting positive reaction of Kosovo authorities, however there is no room for euphoria with regards to Putin’s message.
“This stance could be positively interpreted for Kosovo. However, in the first place it is about the agreement of international factors about reaching the balance at the global level. Russia’s position over Crimea will imply concessions which Moscow will have to make in Syria. I doubt that there will be any separation, instead, exactly like in case of Kosovo, a form of autonomy will be offered. Even though there are certain analogies between Kosovo and Crimea, by figures and by the origin of crisis, these two territories can’t be compared,” explained Beçaj.
Russian President Putin yesterday stated that citizens of Crimea have the right of self-determination.
“Like in case of Kosovo and Albanians who used the right of self-determination, citizens of Crimea can decide in the same fashion on their future,” said Putin.
