Kosovo authorities have found a way to prevent the parties from Belgrade to campaign in the province. The DSS leader banned entrance according to the Law on Foreigners. Vulin: We appealed.

A continuing “game of nerves” between Belgrade and Pristina on the visits of our politicians to the southern province, Kosovo authorities complicated additionally in this election campaign – by referring to the law on foreigners.

As we learn, on the basis of this regulation Kosovo Border Police and EULEX prevented on Wednesday Vojislav Kostunica and DSS to stay in Kosovo, as per Article 3 of the act “alien is any person who is not a citizen of the Republic of Kosovo.”

Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Aleksandar Vulin says to Novosti that, under the applicable agreements, to visit Kosovo permits  are necessary only for state officials :

– There was no basis not to allow a “citizen Kostunica” to enter into Kosovo. We have put a protest and asked EULEX to explain what happened and to prevent such incidents in the future.

Vulin recalls that a few days ago, before Kostunica, to Kosovo went without problems DSS Vice President Nenad Popović. He said that the international community must prevent Pristina to interpret the agreements in its sole discretion.

From EULEX say that they neither permit nor prohibit visits to the province:

– Mission of EULEX does not have even “the role of the postman” when it comes to the requirements for entry into Kosovo. They are delivered to the offices of the EU in Belgrade and Pristina, and permits are issued by the Pristina authorities – said Irina Gudeljević, EULEX spokesperson, explaining that DSS may appeal to the decision to be “escorted” from the territory of Kosovo.

Radicals entered into Kosovo

The SRS deputy leader Nemanja Šarović tells us that they had no trouble to enter Kosovo and had a rally in Kosovska Mitrovica, which was the start of their campaign:

– I did not and I will never ask permission to enter Kosovo. We’ve been in Ranilug, and by the end of the campaign we will probably visit Strpce.
