Edita Tahiri said that Serbia cannot organize elections in Kosovo and that the Brussels agreement marked the end of Serbian interference in the internal affairs of Kosovo.

“Serbia cannot organize elections in Kosovo. Serbia is neighbouring country.  Normalization agreement, reached in Brussels, definitely marked the end of any Serbian interference in the internal affairs of the Republic of Kosovo,” said Tahiri to Radio Kosova.

Tahiri, head of the negotiating team in the dialogue with Serbia, recalled that the Constitution guarantees the right to dual citizenship, which, as she said allows Kosovo Serbs to vote, but only by the OSCE mission technical modalities.

Representatives of the OSCE mission said they have not yet received an official invitation to facilitate the voting process on 16th March, when there will be parliamentary elections in Serbia.

As stated by the Pristina media, analysts from Kosovo say that the maintenance of Serbian elections in Kosovo is illegal and outside the constitutional framework of Kosovo.

Milovan Drecun reacted at this Edita Tahiri announcement.

“Elections for the parliament will be held on March 16 and in Kosovo, at more than 90 polling stations,” said today the president of the Committee of the Assembly of Serbia for Kosovo and Metohija Milovan Drecun, adding that it was greed with OSCE.

Regarding the statement of the Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Edita Tahiri that Serbia cannot organize elections in Kosovo and that the Brussels agreement marked the end of the Serbian interference in the internal affairs of Kosovo, Drecun said to B92 that he can confirm that the elections will be organized in Kosovo and the OSCE will take care of the technical organization.

“As far as the process of the election of deputies to the national parliament and in Kosovo and Metohija, it is absolutely not true what Edita Tahiri said, that the Brussels agreement prevented Serbia to do anything in Kosovo and Metohija and that it is a neighbouring country of Kosovo,” said Drecun.
