Serbian lessons have commenced again, a week ago, in the premises of Serbian-Montenegro association ‘Morača-Rozafa’ in Skadar/Shkodër in Albania where classes in Serbian language are carried out in last couple years.

Some 60 children applied for learning Serbian, following a program which is taught in Serbia’s elementary schools up to the fourth class. The classes in Serbian language have started back on 28 February 2008, on the day which is marked in Albania as the Day of Serbian Language. Some 600 children have learned to speak and write Serbian Cyrillic so far.

“We are all happy that classes will continue. We all know what Serbs suffered during the reign of king Zogu and Enver Hoxha. Serbian language and schools were prevented for a long time. What we have here today is of immense importance for our nation in northern Albania. It is not only children who have been learning Serbian language in previous years, there were adults as well,” says he head of association Pavlo Jakoja Brajović.
