Also private sector is requesting increase of salaries (Radio Kosova)

Independent Union of Private Sector in Kosovo has announced protests and strikes if there are not going to be taken steps for the raise of salaries in private sector. In today’s meeting of this Union it has been decided that next week to start the dialogue with respective institutions and in case nothing happens, Union will start with protests.

“Next week will be the week of dialogue with all respective institutions, government, municipality and private companies, to find a solution. If we don’t move from this point second week will start with protests, maybe also with strikes,” said the head of independent Union of Private Sector of Kosovo, Jusuf Azemi.

He said that for a longer period in this field nothing has been done. He said that even that the private sector is not financed from the government, Union is requesting concrete steps that throughout the law to raise the salaries of private workers.

Workers in private sector feel most discriminated in Kosovo, while their minimal salary is 130 euros. Union said that government has discriminated while rising salaries for 83 thousand workers in public sector, while the minimum salary of 250 thousand workers in private sector are only 130 euros
