None of the two candidates for Ombudsperson managed to receive the sufficient number of votes to be nominated as head of this institution.
Hilmi Jashari and Gjyljeta Mushkolaj, passed the first round of secret votes, however they did not manage to receive the 61 votes of Kosovo Assembly deputies, required by the Law.
Jashari, who used to be deputy and acting Ombudsperson in the past, managed to gain 49 votes, while his counter-candidate, Gjyljeta Mushkolaj, 39. Therefore, the Assembly of Kosovo is obliged to re-announce the vacancy for Ombudsperson.
