Burim Ramadani, MP from Alliance for Future of Kosovo (AAK), writes in a column for the paper that everything is rumour and speculation regarding the establishment of the so-called Tribunal for war crimes in Kosovo. Officials and diplomats say they have very little information on the subject while serious politicians are deeply concerned with the impact the idea could have on the state of Kosovo. Meanwhile, citizens are getting fed up with this system of “unknown and unprocessed” processes.

As with any journalistic piece, simple questions like what, where, why, who and when need to be asked about the creation of the tribunal. What will be its purpose? Why do they want to establish this tribunal? Where will it be based? When will everything surrounding this mechanism be clarified? And who will decide about it?

Ramadani says that there is no answer to any of the above questions but he notes that Kosovo has a clean past and the people of Kosovo have fought to protect their lives and achieve freedom. Furthermore, the truth about Kosovo has already been proved at the Tribunal in The Hague.

While speculations are growing, one thing should also be clear that such a mechanism should not be based outside Kosovo as there is already an EU rule of law mission installed here. Ramadani wonders as to how long will this uncertainty regarding the tribunal last and adds that “this madness has to end as soon as possible.” “The fog has to be lifted. Clarity in these circumstances is necessary,” he concludes.
