Some representatives of Pristina authorities and the opposition believe that pace of reaching agreements in Brussels and its implementation will accelerate ones the new government of Serbia is formed.

The Independent Liberal Party (SLS), which openly supports Progressives, claims that it is important for SNS to implements what they’ve been promised earlier. Even though they don’t expect everything to be settled overnight, it is important that there is a good will for compensation of what’s been lost, and for what, according to them, an exceptional results are a must.

What’s SNS policy and what they’ve articulated in the past several weeks and months with regards to Kosovo is important to be implemented, and for such a thing involvement of all relevant factors is needed, not only of one political party. From that reason we understood that it is important that we work on implementation of the policy of settling, instead of creating problems. It is quite encouraging when such voices are heard for the first time from Belgrade, and such policy, which is not popular at all,” said leader of SLS Slobodan Petrović, whose party is a coalition partner of the Democratic Party of Kosovo of Hashim Thaçi.

Some opposition parties in the Kosovo parliament, which also used to complain over Serbian elections in Kosovo, have positive stand with regards to future Belgrade’s policy toward Kosovo. Official of the Democratic League of Kosovo Sadri Ferati said that despite reservations of Pristina toward Progressives, Vučić has bigger authority and capacity for accelerating processes of normalization of relations.

“If so far approach to Brussels agreements was honest, I believe that Vučić is now in even stronger position, however it is questionable how is he going to use that power…I wouldn’t be surprised if processes would move in faster pace,” said Ferati. He claims that agreements reached in Brussels over the creation of the community of Serbian municipalities should not yield new problems, since it is expected that a new body, which is according to him a consultative body or association, will not act out of the existing Kosovo legislative framework on non-governmental organizations. Hence, said Ferati, ambitions of the association for having the role of a government or an assembly wont’ be tolerated.

Analyst from Pristina, Azem Vlasi, claims that following creation of the government of Serbia leader of Progressives Aleksandar Vučić will endeavor to present himself as more powerful guardian of Serbs. He is not keen to believe that there will be any substantial negotiations in Brussels anytime soon, due to creation of the new government of Serbia and eventual Kosovo parliamentary elections, however he stressed the importance of that process.

“Dialogue and agreements reached are in mutual interest, dialogue has brought benefits to both sides on Serbia and Kosovo’s European path, along with the normalization of tightened relations,” said Vlasi.
