EULEX police arrested two lawyers in Mitrovica North yesterday, Dejan Vasic and Faruk Korenica, RTS unofficially learned. Vasic and Korenica were representing several Serbs from Kosovo. EULEX spokesperson Irina Gudeljević confirmed that at about two o’clock this morning, EULEX police arrested two people in Mitrovica North.
Jelena Vasic in a statement for Tanjug confirmed that her husband, Dejan, was arrested for allegedly influencing witnesses. “So far we have no information about what is going on with my husband, whether he has been taken into custody or will he be released during the day,” said Jelena Vasic.
She said that EULEX called her husband this morning. He then went to his office and was arrested. EULEX police officers searched his vehicle and office, and seized his computer.
Vasic and Korenica represent Zarko Veselinović, who is charged with the attempted murder of two members of the Kosovo special police unit, ROSU.
Korenica and Vasic defended persons accused of incidents last year during the illegal occupation of the courthouse in 2008, in Mitrovica North.
