As part of efforts to gain membership in regional initiatives, the Kosovo Ministry of Foreign Affairs is focusing on joining South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP).

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Enver Hoxhaj, in February took part in the second informal meeting of the SEECP in Romania. On the occasion, Hoxhaj argued that Kosovo’s membership in SEECP and other regional initiatives was in line with 2012 agreement with Serbia regarding Kosovo’s regional representation and cooperation.

Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said regional cooperation makes the crucial part in the process of Kosovo’s approximation to the EU. “Strengthening of cooperation and regional dialogue, inclusion and not exclusion, are the principles on which the SEECP activities rest,” said Syle Ukshini, director of the Ministry’s department for public relations.

He said Kosovo wishes to become an equal members of the SEECP and that its membership would serve peace, stability, and European integrations.
