On International Roma Day, U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo, Tracey Ann Jacobson visited an education center in Gracanica municipality. Jacobson met with members of the Roma community and expressed hers and the U.S. government’s readiness to assist this community especially in the area of education.

“I would like to thank the first Roma mayor in this municipality for the reception. I am very proud that we are supporting this education center in cooperation with the Czech Republic. At the end of the day, nothing is more important for a state than the education of its children. I learned that this center helps the Roma community and offers them additional assistance, especially in terms of language and homework. They will be good students and will contribute to Kosovo’s further development. Education is one of the top priorities of the U.S. Embassy and we have programmes, starting from primary education to university education, as well as student exchange programmes,” Jacobson said.

Gracanica mayor Branimir Stojanovic said the Roma community now enjoys equal rights and he added that no one from this community would allow their interests to be endangered.
