German Chancellor Angela Merkel is expected to pay an official visit to Serbia soon to support the new Serbian Government on its way towards normalization of the relations with Kosovo. According to the Serbian daily Danas, further procedures and the agenda of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, will be determined after Merkel’s visit to Serbia. A few days ago, former Prime Minister of Serbia Ivica Dacic stated that he would not lead the dialogue process with Kosovo, because the agreement foresees the dialogue at the level of the Prime Ministers. This means that the new Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vucic, will lead the Serbian party in the dialogue process. However, according to Danas, it is still unclear if the new government of Serbia will nominate a special negotiator for Chapter 35, which refers to the normalization of relations with Pristina, as a precondition for EU integration. This daily also expresses skepticism that such a significant role could be trusted to the head of Serbia’s negotiating team, Tanja Miscevic.
