NATO admits, however Serbia has nothing to gain from it (Vecernje Novosti)

There are no sings that official NATO statement that bombing of Serbia in 1999 was carried out without the United Nations Security Council’s authorization could change anything in the international relations or courts.

Legal acrobatics, quoting example of bombardment of Serbia and separation of Kosovo, equally used by Russia and the West in their opposed arguments in the course of the last month, are serving only for driving Serbia crazy.

Last example is the statement on NATO webpage where it rebuts Russia’s claims on nature of NATO strikes against Serbia in 1999 and declaration of independence of Kosovo, which brings that Serbia was bombed without the UNSC authorization. That led domestic media to conclude that by doing so NATO actually admitted the violation of the international law and the UN Charter.

“NATO didn’t present any new or unknown facts and they didn’t admit that intervention was illegitimate or illegal. We all know that bombing took place without UNSC authorization. It is not realistic to expect that this could change anything, particularly due to the fact that intervention in Kosovo is the only non-disputable one, over which all NATO members agreed. From all interventions which were real catastrophes (Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan),where goals were not reached and chaos is created instead, only intervention in Kosovo has fulfilled the goals. Situation has calmed down and I don’t believe that anyone can question it now,” explained Filip Ejdus, from the Belgrade Center for Political Studies.
