Dardan Gashi: Municipality decides about Serb Church in the center of Pristina (Radio Kosova)

No one from officials of Pristina municipality wanted to answer about the issue of Serb Church build without working permit in the space of Pristina University Compound, in the time of Serb Milosevic regime. Meanwhile, Minister of Environment, Dardan Gashi, said that the issue of Serb Church is a court issue, but also an issue of Pristina municipality. “Pristina municipality should take the decission while the law enables them to decide if the building should be legalized or to be demolished,” said Gashi.

Pristina municipality spokesperson, Adonis Tahiri, except stating once for Radio Kosova that this is a political issue, afterwards he didn’t want to talk about it, if the municipality would legalize or it would demolish Serb Church outstretched in the University Compound without permit and in foreign property. For more than one week he didn’t want to make a statement about this issue, but about this issue Minister of Environment, Dardan Gashi did not hesitate to talk

Minister Gashi said that the solution of the context of Orthodox Church, respectively the issue of construction permit and that of property, could be done in two legal ways. “The only way that this issue to be solved are Kosovo laws, well the existing laws through which is solved the context of property, where it is also expected the decision of the Court, or in parallel with this, Pristina Municipality should take the decision, because the law enables to decide if it should be allowed further construction of this Church, or its demolition,” said Gashi

Radio Kosova made efforts to take also the stance of Diocese of Rashka and Prizren, respectively of Serb orthodox Church, but no one from the persons in charge didn’t take the phone to talk about this issue.
